A conversation with Juan Díes, director of the Chicago-based ensemble Sones de México, about ‘Esta Tierra es Tuya,’ nominated for Best Folk Album in the Latin Grammy awards. The headlining song is a ‘norteño’ version of Woodie Guthrie’s classic American folk song. The rearranged piece comes alive again at a time when immigrants are the focus of a polarized debate in the nation. Díes joins this program live from Las Vegas, NV, site of this year’s awards ceremony.

Also, 'Pancho Villa: the Revolution has not ended.' That’s the title of a recent documentary by Mexican filmmaker Francesco Taboada. The film, now available on DVD, is the story of Pancho Villa as told by elderly veterans of the Mexican Revolution who knew him. On the eve of the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, this is a brief interview with Taboada. The program also includes a segment of the film with 83-year-old Ernesto Nava, who reveals how his mother told him he was the son of Pancho Villa.
