BULLET TRAINS. High-speed rail systems are an old idea in the U.S. But rising fuel prices and congested airports are pushing advocates to renew efforts to take action. Currently, there are six corridors under study in the Mid West, the North West, the South and other areas. Also, a proposition in the California ballot seeks to fund a high-speed train that would be able to travel from San Francisco to Los Angeles in less than three hours.
