This week, 23 Mexican shipyard workers who entered the U.S. on guest-worker visas report they were kidnapped in Pascagoula, Miss., by a local police chief and a U.S. labor recruiter. Workers charge they were victims of human trafficking, kidnapping and intent to enslave. Advocates are calling on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to investigate civil rights abuses against guest workers. An investigation is under way by federal labor authorities.
