PLAN MEXICO. The U.S. Congress is taking up a controversial bill known as Plan Mexico or Merida Initiative. The project was approved in recent days by the U.S. Senate. The two versions will be reconciled and submitted to President Bush for his signature. The initiative is expected to provide Mexico with at least $350 million in resources, equipment, and training for its War on Drugs. An expert on U.S - Mexico relations talks about the plan, its effects and its possible consequences for the region.
