ALABAMA'S LAW: THE TOUGHEST. Modeled after Arizona's controversial bill, Alabama's sweeping immigration enforcement law is the toughest in the country. It goes further than any other anti-immigration bill. In addition to force police to check the papers of individuals, the bill forces schools to check the immigration status of students and prohibits college, renting apartments or transporting undocumented immigrants. Civil rights groups have announced plans to legally challenge the law before it begins to take effect Sep 1. Advocates talk about those plans.
